You should either go after portals (and kill pests when portals are shielded) or protect the Void Knight you lose if he dies. The portals all have shields on them so you cannot attack them right away but the shields do drop, you will see when the shields drop in the chatbox (and in a display in the upper right corner of the screen). That's how everyone does it because it's the quickest way to win. Like 15 minutes? Ehh, that doesn't matter either because there is also another way to win: Destroy all portals. Your goal is to keep the Void Knight alive for a certain amount of time. Anyways it doesn't matter, you just want to keep him alive. You need 850 points to get your sexy full void and it takes about 15 hours. Spinners try and heal the portal, if you see one of them kill it before attacking the portal.
